3-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Power Bank Developed to UL 2056 for a US Amazon Seller
Project Tags: UL 2056 Certification | 3-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charging | Power Bank ODM | USA / Amazon Compliance
Project Snapshot
- Client: A power bank seller on Amazon US. Company name withheld at the client's request.
- Product: 3-in-1 magnetic wireless power bank
- Scope: Product development plus UL 2056 safety certification
- Market: United States (Amazon marketplace)
The Challenge
Amazon requires power bank listings in the US to meet one of two compliance paths: full certification to UL 2056 (the dedicated safety standard for power banks), or split testing of the internal cells and the finished unit under separate standards. Listings that fall short can be removed, and sellers can face account-level penalties. The client needed a 3-in-1 magnetic wireless power bank — charging a phone via magnetic wireless attachment while also charging additional small devices from the same unit — developed from the outset to pass UL 2056, not retrofitted for compliance after the fact.
Our Solution
Sibaite developed the power bank and carried it through UL 2056 certification as a single, coordinated process:
- Magnetic Wireless Charging Design: A magnetic-alignment wireless charging module built around the open Qi2 magnetic wireless charging standard, so the power bank attaches securely and charges reliably without relying on any single phone brand's proprietary system.
- 3-in-1 Charging Configuration: A single unit designed to charge a phone via magnetic wireless attachment while also providing charging capability for additional small devices, per the client's product concept.
- UL 2056-Driven Engineering: Component selection, protection circuitry, and thermal management designed around UL 2056's requirements from the start, rather than adjusted after a failed test.
- Full UL 2056 Test Coverage: The finished design was tested across UL 2056's evaluation areas — mechanical damage resistance, electrical safety, battery safety, temperature cycling, output capacity, overload behavior, and material flammability.
Scope of Development
| Area | What Was Delivered |
|---|---|
| Charging Design | Magnetic wireless (Qi2-based) + multi-device charging in one unit |
| Safety Engineering | Designed to UL 2056 requirements from the start |
| Certification | Full UL 2056 testing and documentation |
Outcome
The client received a 3-in-1 magnetic wireless power bank backed by UL 2056 test documentation, letting them list and sell on Amazon US under Amazon's power bank compliance policy without the delay or risk of pursuing certification after the design was already finalized.
A Note on This Project
The magnetic wireless charging design referenced here is built on the open Qi2 wireless charging standard. It is not marketed or represented as a product of, or affiliated with, any specific phone brand, and no third-party trademarks are used or implied by this case study.
